This piece, "Catwalk", was stolen from a Kent gallery
on Tuesday 6th August 2002. The base is marked with the monogram "RW", and is engraved under the base
with either "1/6" or "artist's proof". Should anyone recognise this piece, or have any information

I feel extremely fortunate in having been able, eventually, to pursue my first choice of profession (in my youth, being an artist was not considered a "proper job"!). Redundancy, after a long career in the chemical industry, proved a blessing. Having now entered the "Third Age" I am uncomfortable with the present fashion for "artists' statements", my work is my statement. If forced, however, I would confess to adhering to William Morris's principle "There is no Art without Craft..." - it is surely impossible to "boldly go" with any degree of success if one does not have the necessary skills. The vast majority of my work is figurative, the medium being dependent solely on my own interpretation of the subject, and might be in any of wood, stone, steel or clay. In addition to my own work I am a peripatetic teacher of clay-modelling at local primary schools in Kent, and also teach both adults and children in my own studio. My work is exhibited whenever the occasion arises, but generally in Kent & Sussex - current and future exhibitions will be posted on this website.

| We plan to run a "Sculpting for Smiles" fund-raising event, when, for a small fee of about £4 you or your child (9 years and above) can make a terracotta gargoyle. All tuition and materials will be included, and all proceeds donated to The Smile Train. You may also sponsor my junior students to help you, or to make a gargoyle for you. Pre-made fired and glazed gargoyles will be available for sale. For further details email workshops@woodall-evans.abelgratis.co.uk, use the Visitors' Book, or telephone 01795 890767. | |
